According to the latest ESI data (covering the period from January 1, 2010 to April 30, 2020), released by Clarivate Analytics in July 2020, the discipline of "MaterialsScience" in our university has entered the top 1% of ESI international disciplines for the first time, signaling that Materials Science in our university has entered the ranks of first-class disciplines in the world.

. Materials Science is the fourth one which enters thetop 1% of ESI disciplines in the world, and the other three subjects are Engineering,Computer Science and Technology, and Earth Science. We have distinctive discipline arrangement. In recent years, disciplines are developing rapidly, the international academic influential and discipline construction are further enhanced.

Essential Science Indicators (ESI) is a basic analysis and evaluation tool for measuring the performance of scientific research and tracking the development trend of science, which was launched byInstitute for Scientific Information (ISI)in 2001, a famous academic information publishing institution in the world. According to 22 disciplines, ESI makes statistics on articles and reviews papers of all universities and scientific research institutions in the world which have been included in SCI and SSCI database over a 10-year period. ESI makes a comprehensive evaluation of national/regional scientific research level, reputation of academic institutions, academic influence of scientists and academic level of journals through 6 indicators including the number of papers, citation frequency of papers, average citation frequency of all papers, highly cited papers, hot papers and frontier research papers. It has become one of the important evaluation index tools to evaluate the international academic level and the influence of universities, academic institutions and countries/regions all over the world.
